Hello all!

Our Saturday morning shout-outs highlight a post/article/book/other that I’ve come across lately that deserves exactly that: a ‘shout-out.’ The goal here is to hopefully introduce my readers to other authors or bloggers that have had an impact on me, my writing, and my life.

This week’s shout-out is:

A “Message to Garcia” and its impact on my career by Forrest Baumhover at Westchase Financial Planning

This entertaining and informative story of a snapshot in Forrest’s Naval career does such a great job at depicting that reality and a leader’s tactics aren’t always what they seem. People have different ways of leading and although they may seem completely foreign and asinine to you, it’s likely the end goal is the same.

I started reading this story and expected to determine the direction and ending a few paragraphs in, but as I read more and more – I was more intrigued and couldn’t look away from the screen. The story details an event when Forrest was fired aboard a ship, retained his job (not by choice), and ultimately was viewed as the only office who ‘gets it’ by the very same boss that fired him.

This is chock full of life lessons and is 100% worth your time.

Thanks for reading!
