Hello all! Our Saturday morning shout-outs highlight a post/article/book/other that I’ve come across lately that deserves exactly that: a ‘shout-out.’ The goal here is to hopefully introduce my readers to other authors or bloggers that have had an impact on me, my writing, and my life.
This week’s shout-out is: Everyone is going through something by Kevin Love via the Player’s Tribune.
I know this article has received a great deal of press coverage far beyond whatever ‘spike’ this Shout-out will provide… However –
This article is quite possibly the most impactful I’ve read in the last 12 months.
Kevin Love is a professional basketball player currently with the Cleveland Cavaliers and his article recounts the events around a panic attack he suffered during a regular season game in the NBA (National Basketball Association). This was the first panic attack he had suffered and Love had no idea what was happening to his body during the incident. In the article, Love continued to discuss the details of the attack then transitioned into what measures he’s taken in the recent past to help treat and prevent future issues.
This article knocked me off my feet due to recent personal stress issues and the fact that I played college football with guys that went on to play professionally. In those environments, in general, there is no weakness and things like this aren’t admitted to… Let alone discussed in depth. Generally, these athletes are taught to push through and portray toughness. So, for him to write the article took a great deal of gumption and I love it.
Check this article out. It’s well worth your time.
Thanks for reading!
