Hello all!

Our Saturday morning shout-outs highlight a post/article/book/other that I’ve come across lately that deserves exactly that: a ‘shout-out.’ The goal here is to hopefully introduce my readers to other authors or bloggers that have had an impact on me, my writing, and my life.

This week’s shout-out is: I’m a dad and a business owner in my 30s with a 6-figure income — here’s how I spent my money during a recent week

Last Friday, MikedUp Blog saw probably it’s most significant moment since inception. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have some posts featured on amazing and well-read blogs. I’ve even had a post that got picked up on Marketwatch – and, believe me, we have celebrated each and every one of those wins! But last week, I had the fortunate opportunity to write a featured post on Business Insider!!!! (What?!?!? – I know, crazy right?)

Here’s an excerpt from the article:

Our main financial obstacles now consist of us finding balance between digging out from a mountain of debt (student loans, business, and mortgage), while saving and investing for the long-term, and still trying to live our best life in the present moment (where’s that guidebook?).

The good news is that we’re starting to gain some financial momentum, and as our business has grown in the last 18 months, we’re breathing a little easier during our monthly budget talk.

Because of the progress, my wife and I decided to book an 8-night Maui vacation. Call it a combination of celebration for our hard work and one last getaway before our new baby arrives. We’d been to Maui before, but this would be the first trip with our daughter and we were thrilled to bring her along.

  1. Mike, my friend, I don’t know how you made this deal with the devil because HOW DO YOU DO ALL OF THE THINGS?! Your juggling/time management skills are off the charts. It’s super encouraging. Thanks for giving us a peek behind the curtain!

PS YAYYYY first dance class 🙂

    1. SC – I read your comments to my wife and you made us both smile today! Thanks for the kind words, truly.

I wrote a post about how I manage “The Things” but I’d be lying to insinuate that I’ve got it all together. There are things that don’t get done and some that do get done that maybe didn’t need to. It’s a constant balance between productivity, down time, and the most important thing – family time. I’m not the best, but every day I try to get better.

Your comments mean a lot. Thank you so much,
      -Mike

PS- she leaves dance class and asks when the next one is… I think she’s hooked

  2. Congratulations Mike. Well deserved recognition by some of the big name sites for your blog. Enjoy your Hawaii vacation and congrats on the upcoming new addition

    1. Thanks so much, Xrayvsn – We had an absolute blast on vacation and I am still pinching myself about this post on Business Insider… Can’t believe they left the gate open and let me slip in for a minute! (Don’t tell anyone, alright??)
