Who is the Fittest Personal Finance Blogger?

Who is the Fittest Personal Finance Blogger? #fitnessbloggers #fitness #health #exercise #gainz

Ohhh, do I have a treat for us today!! I’ve gathered up all of the fitness bloggers (actually, financial bloggers) in the world (who were within shouting distance and wanted to take part), took them out of their mom’s basements (they’ll be back before dinner, moms…), and I issued them a challenge (and asked a few questions)! What was that challenge? “Where are you at with your current fitness level? Where would you like to improve in the months ahead? How will you get there? And perhaps the most important question – Who is the fittest financial blogger of them all?!?!?   There can only be one!   jkjk – it’s not like I’m competitive or anything (don’t ask my wife or any of my friends or family, OK – cool). 😉   Here, your favorite personal finance ‘nerds’ will see if we have the chops to be “fitness bloggers”   […]

Why you Should Start P90X3 – A Complete Review

The original P90X program changed my life at a time when I needed it the most. After that transformation (almost a decade ago…), I kept on with maintaining my then “new” and decent fitness level until I found what I call the best workout program I’ve ever used – P90X3 helped me get even stronger, better, and more confident. In this post, I’ll describe why it’ll work for YOU too.     It’s that time of year again… You know – the time when years transition from 1 to the next, bad habits are shunned for good, and resolutions are made.   Let’s put aside for a moment that about 88% of those granite-clad and unbreakable New Year’s resolutions fail, and call this what it is. Some of us are big-time into fitness, some will join our tribe, and another group will join our tribe then fall off the fitness train after a […]

The Simple Way I Lost 65-Pounds – For Good!

Achieving a greater level of fitness is simple. But it’s not easy. It can be so easy to get caught up in complicated plans and detailed workout schedules… After a decade of struggling with my weight, I found out the truth – that there is a simple way to lose weight… You just have to work your butt off.   How would I know? Well, about 7 years ago I looked in the mirror and saw a version of myself that I didn’t respect. And for some reason, at that moment I decided to make a change in my life.   I started eating better, exercising more intentionally, and getting better sleep. And although I knew that this transformation and weight loss wouldn’t happen overnight, I started making gradual progress. Each and every day… One day after the next.   Then I looked up a year later and saw a […]

What Is A Beachbody Coach? A Former Coach Explains MLM

What Is A Beachbody Coach? A Former Coach Explains MLM #fitness #multilevelmarketing #beachbody #business #sidehustle #workfromhome

The following is an interview between Melissa Blevins and Michael Dinich. Melissa offers practical money tips to the free-spirited nerd. She is also a former Beachbody coach, and her posts and Youtube videos on the subject have blown up on social media. I saw this first published on Michael’s site and republished it here with their permission. I thought her experience may resonate with, or even caution, some readers.     What Is A Beachbody Coach? Melissa Blevins Explains Multi-Level Marketing And Why You Should Avoid It!     What caused you to become a Beachbody Coach?   I’ve always looked for ways to grow my income, and actually, Beachbody coaching wasn’t my first multi-level marketing attempt. About 15 years ago, I signed on to be a Mary Kay representative. The local “Director” drove a pretty pink Cadillac and talked a good game about the “opportunity” to make money while helping […]

How Not to Have a Stress-Induced Heart Attack Before Age 35

How NOT To Have A Stress-Induced Heart Attack #Stress #anxiety #calm #meditate #peace

Sweaty palms, elevated heart rate, and the constant stream of incomplete yet highly punctuated thoughts… All the while, I was lying in bed thinking, “It’s 0200… GO TO SLEEP!” Which provided exactly 0% help for the situation.   Here we were with another one in a string of sleepless nights where it’s not an uncooperative child or a specific argument that’s got me all ‘riled up’ and thus not sleeping. Nope… What’s happening is an accumulation of 1,000 tiny stressors over the course of an extended period of time all compounding to produce what seems like immediate proximity to the breaking point. Whatever that means… I didn’t know how to characterize that point, just that it was near. And what seemed present on the other side didn’t sound so appealing.   (Photo courtesy of MKulp Photography)   I felt unhealthy and I needed to do something about it. But I […]

Weight loss might be much simpler than advertised (guest blogger – Paul)

Below is an awesome infographic covering weight loss, nutrition, and an overall healthy lifestyle from Paul at DNA-Lean. His blog covers weight loss, building muscle mass, calories, healthy eating, and a whole host of other topics while his company offers supplements to help you get there. Full disclosure: I haven’t taken the supplements, but let me say I loved his infographic below. If you’re looking for some helpful tips on your health journey, then this post is for you. As always, thanks for reading! -Mike     In the modern day quest for weight loss, people often find themselves doing many a weird and wonderful thing! Perhaps you have tried following the pea soup diet to lose weight? Or perhaps you can bear witness to seeing folk wrapped up in cling film in a sauna room?  It would appear that fat and weight loss has become like old wives tale; unscientific and incorrect! With so […]

Respecting limits: and determing a response after you find them

This article isn’t about football but I will use a football observation to illustrate my point. Don’t run away if sports aren’t your thing… Also, this is more of a ‘think piece’ than I’ll typically write. I hope you enjoy it. If not, let me know and I’ll keep these thoughts in my head and off the virtual page from now on. Either way cheers to a phenomenal 2017!!     So, Clara had been put to bed, Monica and I were relaxing on the couch for a minute and watching the Thursday night NFL game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders (December 8, 2016).   Oakland had the ball and they were driving against the Chiefs, who kept their opponents in check for a majority of the game. In large part, this was due to the stellar play of the Chiefs’ linebacking core. These 4 guys […]

She’s loving your feedback, so feel free to leave a comment below or email Mike. Thanks for reading! It’s 2AM and you can’t sleep so you decide to get up and watch some TV.  Surfing to see what’s on, you stumble across some infomercials.  This one catches your sleepy eyes…  “Want to look like this?” The narrator asks. “Or this?” “… ‘Fat burn’, the latest technology in burning the fat and keeping the muscle, has been proven to transform fat into muscle in just 2 weeks!” “…Order now by calling 1-800-fat-burn and you will receive an extra…” Wouldn’t it be great if we could keep AND build muscle while we burn the fat?   The answer is – YOU can! The best purchase I’ve made as a new dad

Ha – just kidding with the above picture. Although this has been useful at times. (Won this in a bet from my dad when Clara turned out to be a girl. We’ll save that story for another day). This story is about the best dad purchase I’ve made – ever.     Marty McFly had the DeLorean, Batman has the Batmobile, Michael Knight had KITT, and POTUS has Air Force 1. These gentlemen count on these respective modes of transportation to get from A to B, or present to past. Point is, one is synonymous with the other. There would be no world-saving, peace-treaty-negotiating, Biff-dominating, or Gotham-defending without the mobile ‘side-kicks.’ My best purchase as a new dad is no different…   The Graco Relay Click Connect Jogging Stroller (in the color of Fern) has been instrumental in promoting my abilities as a husband, father, and athlete. Additionally, if […]
